Yippeeeee! Happy new year to you and yours!!!
Welcome to a new year and a new decade. There have been debates about whether the decade ended already or if it will end this year but that doesn’t matter. We are grateful for another shot at living and making the most of our time here.
One of the most common things people do in anticipation of the new year is to set resolutions. It won’t be uncommon to hear things like “New year, new me” at this time. While resolutions may sound cliché and most people will forget theirs before the end of February, it is a good thing to set out specific areas of your life where you want to make changes. The first thing to note about resolutions is that: You didn’t have to wait till the first day of a new year to implement your new resolutions. Making Resolutions for the New Year
The first thing to note about resolutions is that “You didn’t have to wait till the first day of a new year to implement your new resolutions”.
Next is that you will probably forget them as soon as the drama of day-to-day hits, so write them down. One wise person once said, "He who thinks on paper thinks best”.
Thirdly, don’t just write goals, write down steps to achieving them. If it is something that requires daily action, set a reminder on your phone or paste it at a strategic part of your personal space so you see it every time you walk around your house. My office desk works for me too.
For instance, to reduce how much I talked, I pasted a "STOP!" note on my desk. Every time my eye catches it, I am reminded of my resolution.
Resolutions come in different forms. They could be career, financial, personal (like mine up there), or even social. You only need to be convinced that they are areas you want to put in some work.
Lastly, keep them flexible. Events may unfold that will require you to adjust them; go with the flow. You may also drop from pursuing them, pick up at any time and continue.
If you haven’t made any yet and you would like to, today is a good day to relax and reflect. Look into your life and think what would be a good thing to improve on.
Cheers to a year of smashing goals and attaining heights. Happy new year again.
